Thanks, it certainly felt like a missed opportunity and your explanation seems to shed light on why. You are absolutely correct that those of us who are watching this nightmare unfold are asking WHERE is the opposition leadership? Any act of opposition even if it fails will rally people and provide hope. Capitulation by Schumer brought nothing but criticism and despair from those of us that want to see Trump challenged at EVERY turn since this is exactly what a bully wants to see and emboldens them to push even harder against a weak opponent. We cannot afford to miss any other opportunities and if the democratic leadership isn’t willing to take that approach they should step aside and let others take their place!

The power autocrats like Trump wield is the power that we give them. Schummer handed Trump more power by not putting up a even a modicum of resistance... with the levers at his disposal. This is dereliction of duty to his constituents-the broad swath of new yorkers who elected him to office, and to the country at large. And thank you for calling out the consequences of this missed opportunity, so that this blunder may not be repeated.

Schumer, a conventional Democrat, has failed to understand and recognize that what we have is a regime, not a functioning government. It is a criminal syndicate at war with the real constitutional government of the people. That syndicate includes the 6 treasonous, activist POTUS “justices”.

Not one penny for the DNC until Schumer is removed from a leadership role.

Not one word about what the Democrats wanted - health cafe for illegal immigrants. That's the hill they were supposed to die on? No wonder they've got so little support from actual Americans. It doesn't matter what Trump is, if the "party of the people" only cares about people who aren't even supposed to be here, screw them. At least in Russia everybody who's a citizen might get some actual benefits and no political party makes a platform out of putting non citizens ahead of their own people. No sympathy for the Democrats' here, sorry. They're just as compromised by donors.

How and when do you see the shutdown ending if Democrats didn't cave? Would Republicans have given in to the ACA pressure, given that they have a trifecta, or would Democrats have lost the moral and public leverage when people suffer enough pain and turn on them? AP News reported that many Americans perceive the shutdown as a "major issue": in a poll (October 16, 2025), 54% called it a major problem." I see it as a "damn if you do, damn if you don't" situation in which the price is paid by the poor, by small business, and everyone needing the services currently offline.

Schumer’s capitulation was a mistake then and it’s an even bigger mistake now. At least his pathetic behavior accentuates one of the biggest challenges we face—the party that pretends to act in the best interests of the working class…doesn’t. They are beholden to special interests just like the Republicans.

Why don’t YOU run for office. You clearly have intelligent, logistical reasoning.

I wrote this song originally about the feckless Repubs kow-towing to Felon47. But there are a lot of Dems it applies to as well.
