One angle that may deserve even more attention is the structural link between the Iran theatre and the war in Ukraine.
Iran has not merely been a political partner for Moscow; it has become a practical enabler of Russia’s war effort, most visibly through the supply of Shahed drones that have been used extensively against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
That creates a strategic paradox.
A weakening of Iran could, in principle, degrade Russia’s access to some of these capabilities. But at the same time, a widening Middle Eastern conflict risks diverting Western attention, production capacity, and political bandwidth away from Ukraine.
In other words: the Iran crisis could simultaneously weaken one pillar of Russia’s war machine while also weakening Ukraine’s support structure.
Which effect dominates will likely depend less on battlefield events in Iran and more on whether Western governments maintain strategic focus on Ukraine while managing a second crisis.
The real test is therefore not only military — it is one of political prioritization and strategic discipline.
Please help me understand...why has the Trump Regime abandoned Ukraine? I thought they liked "winners". It's clear that if Russia stops fighting the war will end as they are the aggressor. Therefore, Russia NOT Ukraine, needs to agree to a cease fire. End of conflict, end of bloodshed.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian Freedom Fighters cannot stop fighting as they are defending their people. If they stop fighting their sovereignty will end; Ukraine will end!
Putin does not want a "win" he simply cannot afford to lose. Losing ends his empire building goals and exposes him to face accountability for his ruthless aggression and merciless war crimes.
The Trump Regime support for Ukraine is now or never. We need diplomacy not deal-making. It's give and take. Give President Zelenskyy the military aid he needs to end the bloodshed. In exchange, Zelenskyy would help the Trump Regime to learn from his strategic military knowledge of fighting a ruthless aggressor.
Zelenskyy is smart, caring, apparently funny…a person of high standards, willing to abide by international laws, protect his citizens. DJT and Putin are both motivated by greed, dominance, and lawlessness. Putin wants the land resources and the dominance. Just like DJT.
Social Darwinists including Trump, Putin & Bibi all admire one another, to the detriment of everyone else. And despite the hostilities between them and the Ayatollah regime in Iran, they have more in common than they think.
this regime is practically begging for another terrorist attack on us soil just so they can declare a state of emergency/martial law. isn't it a funny coincidence that all the iran experts and counterrorism unit in FBI has been fired.
It’s seems tRumps war on Iran has given Russia a huge revenue boost as the price of crude rises; and the USA additionally has green lit sales of Russian crude to India. The cynic in me believes this may have been the intent of the war to give Putin an economic lifeline. @GaryKasporov …what are your thoughts on this?
After following the Ukrainian defense of their country daily since the full scale invasion on 24 Feb, 2022, I'm very thankful to get your thoughts about the Iran conflict from Ukraine's perspective. Ukraine is always topmost in my mind. I especially appreciate your recommendation to vice president Vance to be sure to say "Thank You" to Ukraine for anti Shahed support. I believe we are still waiting. If only your recommendations in this article had been followed... Great work for RDI providing meals to the Kharkiv region and perhaps other locations in Ukraine. The residents there are not forgotten.
I'm convinced that Putin's grip on Trump's actions is basically the same as the Epstein scandal. Putin has enough kompromat on Trump to keep him in an assumed state of loyalty (Trump has no natural loyalty to anyone or anything.)
With unstinting US support, Ukraine could have delivered the knockout punch to Russia by now. As it is, all Trump/Vance can do is launch Operation Epstein Fury to divert attention from the increasingly obvious. About that Nobel Peace Prize...
Cheeto And Ritual Humiliation: Understanding Fascist Leaders
In a wonderful conversation between two historians and heroes of mine, Ruth Ben-Ghiat and Tim Snyder(https://bit.ly/4lcOvUc) take a look at past fascistic regimes and compare it to the current regime
The common theme of fascist leaders is that they are all malignant narcissists which means they are social psychopaths that don’t care at all for the people they represent as the leader of their societal governments As Snyder points out, the people of the electorate are treated not as humans but as objects to be used and discarded at the psychopaths whim
Which then led to the theme of ritual humiliation The sociopath is not satisfied in just firing people but in humiliating them on the way out Take Noem for example She learns about her firing on Truth Social after she gave a speech to a group of MAGA supporters Or the military in general Treated as objects who gave their lives for the country only now to have GI benefits pulled away from them It’s the ultimate fuck you And in a show of humiliating loyalty the recipient says on the way out “Thank you dear leader"
Cheeto hates Americans because WE the People are a constant threat to his power Figuratively he will end up like Mussolini hanging dead upside down at a gas station in Milan That’s what Cheeto is scared of And he should be
One could call this game the ETERNAL STRUGGLE for more power, more money, gold and everthing else important for us earthlings, deadlier weapons of mass destruction, perfecting the art of stone cold killings of single women and men on completely abandoned places in the middle of the night performed with AI and all other hightech by warriors sometimes sitting at computers far away from the actual warzone or amultimilliondollarsinvestedshapingtheirskillsandstealth field operators working for the state, some company and, well, anybody paying enough money for clean, efficient, no nonsense wetworks
I wasn’t really thinking about how linked these fronts are until this piece. It had not occurred to me that Ukraine’s experience and even a strike on Russian production at Alabuga could be part of an effective response to Iran, or that weakening Russia’s war machine should sit at the center of Iran policy alongside a major increase in support for Kyiv.
From an information operations perspective, I keep wondering:
1. Could we see genuinely coordinated operations across these theatres?
2. Is a decisive information victory even possible in this environment?
Hmm, I might need to draft some ideas down and regig my scheduled articles!

When the president is a madman with no plan but grudges to settle this all makes sense.
