LOVED your book! One of the best I've read about the 1/6 insurrection and investigation.

Thank you

Very welcome. Your unbridled honesty was refreshing. And I could "hear" - and sympathize with - some of your frustrations with the Committee itself. But mostly, your book was amazingly informative and well-written. :-)

I saw you on MSNBC’s Jen Psaki today. You are the only person out there leading & making sense. Everyone else is wandering around lost in the darkness.

The construct that Congress is not powerful is incorrect (from my POV). It's that Republicans in Congress have abdicated their power because they are cowards.

Exactly. Once the Chief Executive controls the Legislative branch (though usurpation or abrogation), and also thumbs his nose at the judiciary (including SCOTUS), we are living with a dictator, no matter what the interviewer said. I.e., I disagree with his "definition" of a dictator. In my opinion, now that Drumpf essentially controls or ignores all three branches of government - with no formal, legal or political consequences - he is a dictator, pure and simple.

I would argue that he's a wannabe dictator at this point. He's still pretty weak (even with the GOP electeds, though they won't talk publicly) and the pushback from the American people has been pretty stepped up. So I think the jury is out as to whether he will be successful in consolidating everything.

Again. He is Head of the Executive Branch, which he has successfully turned into what has been called the "unitary executive," where he controls ALL powers and agencies under that branch and they all answer directly to him. He has become the de facto head of the Legislative Branch by, as you point out, the fact that the GOP has simply abrogated both of its primary responsibilities (legislative, and advise and consent) to him completely. And by thumbing his nose at the courts - including SCOTUS - has has emasculated that branch as well. Thus, he basically controls all three branches of the tripartite system. This makes him a de facto dictator.

I think you are considering the word "dictator" in the same light as the interviewer - and I reject that a leader cannot be a dictator unless certain other factors are in place. Those factors being in place would simply make him a "stronger" and more "powerful" dictator.

Disappointed that Uriel is trying to somehow placate RDI’s donors at the expense of saying clearly what we are witnessing with our own eyes. This type of “mealy mouthed” criticism of Trump while trying to not alienate his backers is EXACTLY what has gotten us into this mess.

Putin is EVIL and Trump is a wannabe Putin so what does that tell you? Stop trying to make ANYTHING he is doing sound reasonable. He is a greedy, out of control egomaniac who is destroying the US and hence the future of humanity - all for HIS wealth and power PERIOD.

All the rest is just “wrapping paper” as Gary so eloquently referred to it.

Gary let’s cut to the chase. Forget about discussions of strategies and principles for a moment. If you knew then what you know now about the untold costs that Putin would inflict upon the lives of both Russian’s and innocents throughout the world and you wanted to stop him before he consolidated power, what would you have done? Because that is exactly what we should be asking ourselves today about this guy right now…

All the rest is wrapping paper!

I want to invite people to visit my FB page, where I have posted an interview I did with GK in 2017. He was then still "in hiding" (though his book was out). My FB page is under my name, Ian Alterman. I believe the interview with GK is the fourth thing down on my page. I have been predicting that Trump and the GOP were planning to attempt to cancel the 2026 elections. (It would be done under pretense of martial law, invoked by Trump for the flimsiest of reasons). GK made a similar statement on MSNBC last night, so I felt it was time to re-post my interview. So much of what he said then (2017) is even MORE apropos now.

I have also posted an exegesis of the "fascist playbook," according to Dr. Lawrence Britt (14 Characteristics of Fascism) and Naomi Klein (Fascist America in 10 Easy Steps.) That is the first thing you will find on my FB page.

Since El Salvador is paying Trump (our government) to round up and deport people here in our country, why has he Trump not being charged with Human Trafficking?

Our courts are powerless to enforce their decisions. Legislators have abdicated their powers and abandoned the American people. And, Trump has declared his dictatorship by Executive order. Our constitution is already in shreds. The only thing left is for the people to protest, to strike, to boycott, to stand tall, not bow down, and fight for the life we want for our future generations

You are so out of reality, I just regret Gary agreed to hold an interview with such a stupid idiot. I have just unsubsribed and will never get back to your page or whatever it is…..

I would hope you won't do that. I wasn't particularly super-happy with the interviewer either, but that doesn't mean GK is not worth following: please don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.
