What a great speech and person. Thank you Admiral McRaven. Thank you for making this possible, RDI. We must hold our representatives accountable. As Heather Cox Richardson said in her recent youtube chat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFLjHDAhAQ8) now is not the time to be afraid. Instead, we must demand of our representatives at the local state and federal level that people not be deported. We demand the due process of law, that there be no cuts in employees and funding for Medicaid, Medicare, NOAA, NIH, Education, Social Security, the VA, health care. We must defeat Project 2025 and reclaim our democracy. Thank you.
Here I am on Dec 26th, reading this excellent speech. I'd like to think that in our RoW minds, it still holds, but I'm afraid that since April, the US has become NOT the good guys anymore.
Of course, it COULD and CAN become what it was, but there is much work to be done - the problem won't solve itself.
We also should not forget that US governments have abandoned those values. Just remember Salvador Allende being brought down for Pinochet. Remember that Trump already promised 2016 in his acceptance speech to Republican party that he wanted to be the second coming of Richard Nixon. Boy, did he tell the truth!
